How does it work...

There is a 10k NTC (Wikipedia) at the end of the Cable. (Resistance=10k @ 25°C)

I put the resistor together with a temperature probe on a metal power resistor and slowly increased the temperature while measuring the temperature t, resistance R, and the Voltage U at the Fan.

The Fan is controlled in 5 steps as follows:

 45   | 4,7  | 8,7
 50   | 4,1  | 9,7
 55   | 3,4  | 10,8
 60   | 3,0  | 12,7
